God is Here

When the kids don’t want to go to sleep and the struggle is in remaining patient, kind and firm, God is there. He has chosen to dwell in the kids bedroom, monsters and all. He doesn’t think it’s too messy, too humble, too this or too that. He wants to be intimate with us.

When the car is sliding on ice and you’ve lost any semblance of control over the wheels and your nerves are falling apart, God is there. He has chosen to dwell in the places  of fear, and lack of control and near death experiences. He doesn’t think they are too scary, too human, too this or too that. He wants to be that intimate with you.

When your best friend betrays you and your heart feels as though it will never mend and you might as well quit on life, God is there. He has chosen to dwell in the shattered hearts, distresses to deep for words, and impossible situations. He doesn’t think you are too broken, too putrid, too this or too that. He wants to be that intimate with you.

And when we misunderstand Him, interpreting life through a lens that forgets His complete love and commitment to us, He is there. He keeps on loving, and doesn’t feel the need to explain Himself.

He lost his job, but it was the love of God in action that he might not be ensnared.

God is here in the midst.

She went through surgery but it was the love of God in action that she might learn to relinquish control. God is here in the midst.

God is here, filling all in all. In the midst of the anguish, and the pain, and the tears, and the impossible red sea.
